What do you say to a man who has lived the last 8 years of his life under 24 hour a day, face melting scrutiny? How do you respond to a man who daily faced down decisions with global implications? What is appropriate decorum to honor the man, freely chosen in an election of citizens… twice? How about this, how should decent, even modestly civilized people in the most socially & politically advanced country in the world respond to another human being, much less the outgoing President?
Apparently if you are a supporter of King Barry the Hopeful, you boo him. I’m curious how it would be received should I gather a large group of my friends, stand on a corner and Boo President Obama. Would I be celebrated, tolerated, or labeled? I wonder.
Don’t hold King Barry responsible for this, he’s not one of these idiots. He could, however, address the issue and make clear to anyone with even a hint of a Bush-bashing spirit (that means you, Madame Speaker and your wingnut cronies) that he will not only not participate, but will actively oppose any such efforts (including yours Lurch Olberman and your cheap Sarah Palin knock off glasses). As of yet, His Hopefulness hasn’t had much of a spine in dealing with the leadership of his own party. If he really cares about bipartisanship, start here. Set the tone for change. Don’t just give a token nod in your otherwise humdrum address.
So much for Hope & Change. It seems like the same fools who have grumbled and complained about the past 8 years (while, incidentally, living under the umbrella of protection he helped provide) acting like it’s nap time at the kindergarten. The left will always be the left.
